As we’ve shared, the CPL was the recipient of a generous NYS grant that allows us to install a new HVAC system and renovate our bathrooms to ADA compliance. That long-awaited time of construction is now upon us.
Beginning AUGUST 17, the LIBRARY BUILDING will be closed, This will include both the building and parking lot bookdrops. From August 17 to August 22, service from the CPL will be completely unavailable to patrons as we transition to our temporary location in Munger Cottage (40 Munger Drive). On August 23, patrons can drop off books and pick up holds at Munger. Our hours there will be:
We know any construction project can be inconvenient, so we appreciate your patience with us as we do this important work to maintain our physical space for the Cornwall community now and in years to come.
What’s taking so long? The delay is due to two additional projects that were added to the scope of the original work – entry and hallway flooring and barrel ceiling joint repair. Because the project is being done using NYS grant money, additional approvals were required by the state, all pushing our re-opening date back. We know how frustrating these delays are; but we also know the importance of getting the work done right the first time around. Thanks for your steady patience!
We are pleased to announce the anticipated reopening of the library building on Monday, December 4th. As we did in August, we will completely close our Munger Cottage operations beginning on Monday, November 27 so that we can move technology and materials back to the library. Of course, these dates are subject to change given the sometimes unpredictable nature of construction. Continue to check our website and social media for the very latest information.
The library building is now open during our regular hours. We are looking forward to seeing you at our improved space!
